Delta fought tooth and nail because Parker stated upfront that once he controlled Delta he intended to furlough 25 percent of the Delta seniority list.
I think you will also find that labor will fight any current merger with USAIR again. There are to many negatives and far to few positives from the labor side to not fight against it. Management may have other plans because they see a possible tremendous yield improvement with the elimination of east coast competition. The question is who would absorb the furloughs. The best outcome is we stay separate airlines so we don't have to find out.
