Seems like most of them you need to know someone to just get an interview. I would guess since the op doesn't know what one is he might have a tough tome just getting his foot in the door.

North American, Omni, World, Ryan, Miami Air, etc. Two other great options right now would be Virgin America and Spirit if you qualify for them. They're hiring and growing rapidly (for now of course). Can any pilots from VA or NKS comment on whether this guy would be qualified and competitive?

Do a little research on APC and try to find out what other options you have besides going to a regional. The writing is on the wall for the 50 seat RJ and they are being parked consistently by most of the majors. You may very well find yourself furloughed in the next few years, and right back where you are.

With your experience, you may be able to bypass the regional stepping stone and find a non-sked (as mentioned above) or even another corporate/charter gig. I would be applying EVERYWHERE and see which fish bites first. Best of luck to you!
I live in Grand Rapids, Mi so I would have to commute which does not sound fun but they do have a base in ORD...

He does meet the minimum qualifications for Spirit, A recommendation with those times could get him in the door. We also have a base in Detroit, so that would probably be attractive. My recommendation would be to apply and see. We certainly do Hire corporate folks, and you'll never know if you don't try.

Definitely! Your upgrade time is supposed to be rather quick too with all the Buses on order, no? That'd be a great place to get on!

How about Allegiant? Can someone comment on whether he'd be qualified there? They also have a ton of bases, one of which might be close to GRR.

I don't know if he checks all the boxes to get looked at but so far most interviewed here at NK have come from internal recs.

You forgot to tell him this months flavor is a VX internal rec for the NK interview.

Very complicated this flying business.

I had shoulder surgery in December and the healing process is most likely going to take me into long term disability and it is the companies policy to terminate the employee (I would receive part of my paycheck through insurance) and if your position is still around you start over at the bottom. After hearing this and freaking out I put a resume into Express Jet and got called for an interview the next day. ....
Something about this does not add up. Why would you not be protected by the Family Medical Leave Act after President Obama signed the Technical Corrections Act? Are you considered to be full time? Are medically capable of operating the controls? Did you interview with Express Jet (aka ASA) yet? Just trying to imagine a pilot candidate showing up for an interview with his arm in a sling... . Also, the 12 week provision of the FMLA should be plenty to recover from shoulder surgery. Seems like the employer would prefer to avoid the unemployment claim ... seems like something could be worked out. Not sure that you are making your decision on a completely rational basis, unless you simply want to fly for ExpressJet.

If you simply want another job, I'd not muddy the water with the medical issue. It is easier to get a job when you already have a job (even though an unemployment check during recovery might seem appealing these days).
