Default Psa looking for guidance

Currently working with Colgan and going to the crj in JFK if the class holds up. Been here since April and had no real complaints just glad to have a job but caught between another decision. I'm sure most know something is cooking at pinnacle corp and as of now don't really have any idea what that is. But my decision to make is take the interview with Psa and hopefully get hired I could be based at home in Clt some point. What I would be giving up is 300 people below me and giving up 10k the next year if i switch company's. Don't know anything really about Psa the forum on them is not real recent as far is quality of life scheduled days off for line holders etc. But my biggest thing is no more commuting and worrying what's gonna be the decision with pinnacle. Any guidance would be great.

Thanks

If it's any help, Jake, from a guy who was in your exact situation (literally, we started on the same day) I bailed from Colgan last month. I wasn't necessarily unhappy, though my commute was lousy, and it was a tough decision to give up looming second year pay, but I had an offer at a place where I could get based at home. For what it's worth, I'm in sims at the new place now and I'm really happy with my decision. It's only been a month but I've got no regrets whatsoever. No place is perfect and it's a drag starting the clock over on first year pay, but personally it wasn't worth riding out the tough times at Pinnacle when I had so little invested. The chance to end the commute was what finally sold it for me.

Take it. It won't take too long to hold CLT, and living in base is key (as you have obviously found out). Be warned however: RSV at PSA is truely a nightmare. The lack of work rules here will be a shock to anyone coming from even Colgan. On the other hand, PSA isn't going bankrupt anytime soon as US Airways is headed for long term profitability.

I'm not touching the USAir profitability comment...

But I can say the ability to be based at home will improve your QOL exponentially. Your pay will improve, and reserve at home isn't too bad. Reserve in a crash pad is HORRIBLE.

I'd take it. Once you have the job offer jump on it

You dont think airways will be profitable for time to come? I think every major will be thanks to consolidation and capacity discipline. Did LCC post 4Q results? Im guessing in the black for the year.

Been at PSA for almost 5 years..yes 1st year and RSV is a challenge..but crews are GOOD...of course a few "downer" attitudes like anywhere....if you have a good, not entitled attitude...do your research..know what you are getting into and come join us....we welcome other good crews!!!!

take the PSA job..if you won't have to commute your QOL will be 1000% better even on reserve. I left another regional after 3.5 years to come to Pinnacle to seek a better QOL, I have no regrets either. I was at a US AIR express carrier and I do not believe that US AIR will be going anywhere anytime soon. Yes PSA is wholly owned but they have been a stable company. Go with your gut feeling and you won't be sad that you did!! good luck.

I am in the same predicament as Jake. Live in AVL for my Fiances job, so TYS or CLT would work great. The only down side like he stated, is giving up second year pay in addition going to MSP for me, which would mean we would move home finally but her having to find a new job. Of course none of the things worth holding onto will most likely be there soon.... Decisions Decisions.
