Chase,

I stand corrected! Silly me, I made some assumptions just like I have accused others of doing. I just viewed the results for the first time and I believe I understand why you would take exception. I will take the lead and apologize. The way things look we will need good leadership and being a "don't volunteer for anything" kinda guy I will just slither off for now. I will raise my ugly head now and then and observe however.

FYI I wanted to work for SWA since I was in college (81 grad). With my military background I had the qualifications to be hired by any of the above mentioned airlines. Who knows if I would have been hired because I never applied. I had squadron mates virtually ridiculing me for paying for my type rating. I then watched as they were hired at the above airlines and then furloughed for a few years (and in some cases multiple airlines) while I went to SWA. Even my wife questioned why I went to SWA at first but after the furloughs I looked pretty smart (credit the Lord). Of course I will take those comments from my wife when I can get them. Airline history of course has so far been good to SWA and I feel fortunate.

Also those same pilots you are disparaging by saying they are only filling the holes voted shortly after I arrived to eliminate the B scale and and drastically improved our 401k. Ask yourself which hole you are filling! I myself would vote to take a trip reduction if it meant keeping the company from furloughing any of our pilots. Would you?

A bible thumping military brat.

It makes all your posts so clear now.

I don't know the specific numbers involved, but a company's stock price is indicative of how the public values the company (in absolute general terms). So if your pay raise makes the public think less of your company, don't you think something may be wrong?

I think overall SWA seems to be full of great pilots and positive people. You guys have resisted the greed that other airline pilot groups have fallen victim to and subsequently damaged the company. Anybody remember the United pilot actions in the last 10 years? It was fairly obvious to many that their actions were short-sighted, but the pilots just ignored all the signs right up to the day the company declared bankrupcy. You SW pilots think your culture and company structure is different? It is, but the pilot group is acting more and more like all the other major airlines.

My point: Is putting your company's culture and future in jeopardy worth an extra $10,000 per year?

May the Lord forgive me! I guess you didn't notice I started my reply with just DH. I might be your worst nightmare sitting over in the left seat. Oh well, there is always LITT.

It's 'E' LITT. You must be in Dallas.

Wrong assumption again. Wake me up when you say something substantial without insults.

You must be new! On your board it says LITT (Line Improvement Trip Trade). The "E" improvements were added to help us poor captains have our own bid avoidance system (among other things).

So this is what lurks on PPRUNE. I seem to have diverted your attention away from Brad.
Mission accomplished.
