The Silver Bullet was the Cheif Pilot's gig. We have a new CP these days. He has only been in office a month or two so he's just getting around to making it his own. I have not heard, but I wouldn't be surprised if he set up some sort of referral system.
We are going to hire quite a few pilots over the next few years. Right now it's locals, friends and family, Horizon pilots etc. it won't be long before they have to start looking a little farther afield. if you want to work here, keep up the letters and applications. When I got interviewed many years ago they had every scrap of paper I had ever sent them in my file. Alaska has a long memory.

From the AS CP:
HIRING PROCESS
We often receive questions on the hiring process, so here is a glimpse at how it works. To start, ap-plicants submit their application and resume online. After the hiring window closes, my office, in conjunction with, the HR Department carefully review all submissions. By the way, this past applica-tion window we had over 2,000 submissions. The applicants’ resumes are further evaluated and ranked according to qualifications, experience, and letters of recommendation and selected appli-cants are invited to start the interview process. The first interview typically consists of two pilots and one HR representative. Those meeting our high standards will then continue on to a second inter-view with a management representative and a member of the HR team. I sincerely appreciate your letters of recommendation, phone calls, and visits. The goal is to hire not only highly qualified pilots, but pilots who will be a good fit for our company.
None of the guys I've recommended have heard a peep yet.

Do you mean that they are calling to set up interviews or that actual interviews are taking place? from the last hiring window?
I am hoping to get a call soon, my sister works for Alaska as an FA and I know my resume was sent to the DO from a recently retired check airman. I would love to fly for Alaska, I have always felt that they would be the only airline I would leave the corporate world for.
If there are any Alaska pilots who will have a layover in SAN, ONT, SNA or LAX I would be happy to meet up and grab a beer to discuss the interview process. I would be very grateful. PM me if interested.

They interviewed several Horizon folks last week, and made calls this past Sunday (Mother's Day, for crying out loud) for a WEDNESDAY interview, to at least 1 guy.
I have no idea whether that schedule is what they're shooting for or if it was just what worked for that particular candidate.
