Otto,

Did I mention I was jealous with regards to your international RON's. I guess I will have to use my vacation time to visit those places with my family for right now.;)

That's how I look at it. Paid vacation. Free hotel. I take my family along (when they can). I just got back from a trip with my dad. Of course, you can get sick of the same places over and over. How many times can you do the tourist stuff? I try to keep it exciting. I'm trying to have fun before I upgrade to 737 CA.

Mike,

You are absolutely correct about how things change. In 1990 I wouldn't have touched CAL with a ten foot pole. Now they seem more palatable with the change in their pilot demographics. That is as long as they make improvements to their current contract.

.

What changes to their contract should they be looking for?

Good question! I am only familiar with their current hourly rate needing to be increased. Do any CAL folks have any other things they would like to see improved?

Otto?

Guys not hired...

I, too, had a friend (fuloughed fm a "Legacy" carrier ) that wasn't hired. He did all the normal things, networking prior to the interview, letters of rec., etc. He did the interview and did not get hired. I heard from him a week later pleading his case on "Why?"... I was sympathetic for a while until we started talking about his "Legacy" job.
I asked about his call back, etc and that is when it became perfectly clear why he didn't get hired at SW. "Screw those guys..., I'll just call in sick..., I'm not going back unless..., etc". WOW! I realized that the hiring department had done their job keeping someone with that type of attitude out of our ranks. Thank You!
I had thought this guy would be great for our company but he showed his true colors after he got turned down!
We at SWA do have our "1%" and I want to keep it that way or less.
