Everyone seems to take the position of who makes the most? If that is the only consideration then consider this: My monthly pay for October totals $19,584.49. which includes some junior manning pay and a little bit of deadhead, nothing Herculean though. I personally think pay is not the only issue when considering employment options, but whatever floats your boat.

I find you quite amusing calcapt. It's funny how quickly you display your gross income on a public forum. I guess you have an insecurity complex. But hey, it's ok....whatever makes you feel better. By the way, I know many UPS guys who make an average of 270,000 per year. And thats without JA. So quit posting your income like you are some sky god!

A good captain friend of mine at SWA grossed $24k in August and $29k in September with some junior manning (VJA) too. Another grossed $600k in 2003 (stock options). I think you can make as much or as little as you want at this level.

Do you feel better now that you have put Calcapt in his place? It was posted for no other reason than for those who are making their employment decision solely based on income. I don't give a rats a$$ about impressing anyone, boasting about income or what you think. I am very aware that many in this industry make more than I do including your UPS buds and others. More power to them and they deserve it. If someone is in it for only the money then obviously they should not come to CAL. I am not in a contest about who makes what, nor do I care to be. If my income numbers help some make decisions - great! If not, don't read anything into it and move on. You won't hurt my feelings - trust me!! I don't have any insecurity issues and manage to make it through the day just fine thanks. I am quite content to be where I am and look forward to the industry returning to profitability and better things ahead. By the way, I have never in 500 plus posts here ever mentioned my income to any degree so your comments are baseless and spoken without thought. If people want to work for UPS, JetBlue, FedEx, United, GoJet or Virgin America, I could care less. If I were trying to impress someone, I would post my wife's earnings not mine. Hope you feel better now!

Good point! I agree that income can vary widely based on your work habits and desires. I never claimed to make the most, just provided data for whoever finds it helpful. Kudos to your SWA friends, they deserve every penny!!!

Well, you obviously do care that people know what you make or you wouldn't have posted it. I think you are full of shi*. You claim my comments are baseless, but yet you make your W2 public. How am I baseless. I am just commenting on what you wrote!!

What point are you trying to make? Are you just here to slam me for providing data? Would you have felt better if I would of said "I have a friend who....."?
Again, if you find the data useful - use it. If not don't - don't!
I will afford you the courtesy of not insulting you or commenting further on your posts. I am here to help others on the forum, nothing more!

Hey calcapt. I stand corrected, and I apologize. I reread your post and I realize that you were not being condecending toward the other pilots. How I responded toward that post was rude and unproffessional. Please accept my apology.

One could easily get income figures from the APC side of this website. Big deal they are posted for info purposes and to help...Just makes it easier...

FYI - I don't like to talk about money - its cheapens conversations and I find it turns people off about the message...Thats just me...You may be different and I respect that.

Good Luck with SWA

I interviewed with SWA and AirTran last month. Only 6 out of 22 got the call at SWA, I was not one. I wil try next year. This was one of the interviewies 3rd time, and he was turned down yet again (said he would try again). So being a good guy and having a desire to work hard is not enough. The people I know, that fly at SWA, are great guys. The people I met while in the process were nice. The SWA is top notch. The interview, while nice and comfortable just seemed a little phoney. People just did not seem to be themselves (interviewer and interviewies). I would love to sit in on a HR hiring board there for some insight. As much as they say to be yourself, everybody didn't seem interested in who you were or how you got there. The questions did not seem realistic. I see their side (hiring for attitude) but it is not as friendly as it seems on the surface. AirTran on the other hand were nice, genuine and interested in you. I have interviewed alot lately and they (AirTran) are by far the biggest picture easiest going, and show basic respect the seemed lacking at the other places I have interviewed (5 total offered 3). I look forward to working there. I hate being made to feel like I am begging for a job, when I will give my all for who ever gives me a chance.
Remember don't worry about who to work for till you have an offer.
Good luck, and remember ultimatley only you can make yourself happy where you are, not the pay or people (they sure can help though :D )

PS job security should be huge consideration
