We also need to be concerned about the JV flying. I mean 5 AF flights daily JFK-CDG? 2 x 777's daily LAX-CDG?. Same with ATL. KLM 2 x daily JFK AMS? Look at the JV flights from all our hubs. That is our wide body pilot seats being flown by somebody else. And don't tell me we have it great because we have a couple of light twins daily from PHL and PIT.

Yup!

Long time lurker/occasional poster, but I can't not share this one. Let me say right up front that this is 3rd hand so please don't shoot the messenger!

OK, here goes:

Jumpseater with us today claims to have ties to a CPO and was told by his buddy in the CPO that we should see a TA on 18 May. Supposedly the MEC will see it on the 15th, and to us on the 18th. Details include 20% increase to the rates with "COLA" type increases per year later. 717s are in the deal and supposedly via a lease from Boeing after turn in from SWA. SWA pays some penalties etc but we get "new" leases from Boeing. Company will offer 500 early outs, and hiring will begin quickly. 50 seaters reduced to around 125 total. Now for the bad news: Supposedly company wants 90 seaters with some type of production balance. Also they want increased Code share with Alaska. The reason he claims the company wants a deal done quickly has to do with the loan for the refinery.

Again, please don't shoot the messenger. There is no way I can confirm any of this...it is just the rumor I heard today with a lot of details and a firm date (supposedly). I guess we will know soon.

Ready for incoming...Philly

I have heard this too from someone definately in the know... Pretty much exact same words too.

Letting the company outsource more 76 seaters, possibly with larger weight limits to pave the way for the next gen stretchable 130+ seater common types down the road, in exchange for allowing them to park 50 seaters that they are going to park as soon as they can anyway.

And possibly more 76 seaters (or larger) to allow used 117-125 seat planes our scope already owns, possibly with up to 1000 frivolous OAL sport bidding pilots coming with just for fun, partly in order to trip park future replacement planes at mainline in order to "grow" into more allowed outsourced large "RJ's".

In exchange we get locked into maybe a few percent over COLA contract as the company is projecting over double current profits so they can do a wicked Irish step dance and sing "a contract is a contract, up in here, up in here!"

I'm totally kidding. But what if I wasn't?

They want a contract that will pass 50% + 1, they don't care what we think as individuals. I am now changing my thoughts to thinking the top third will mostly vote yes just on the early outs. We need to see the scope language, the JV flying isn't even being talked about on this board at all. Everybody is focused on 76 and 90 seaters while our JV partners fly 777's, A-380's, A-340's, etc across the Atlantic and Pacific stealing our jobs on the wide body highest paying aircraft.

But now they are hiring and even a few classes can have the effect of a thousand DL new hires. In a ratio we will get creamed with a currently growing smaller airline. Thats why we need to be extremely agressive defending our interests and our end of any SLI using any means necessary to do so. Guys not even in class at other airlines about to be senior to 5+ year DL pilots? I don't think so.

I wrote my Rep a long email 3 days ago voicing my concerns beyond large RJ's. They are well aware of the threat of JV's, code shares, etc. I'm confident that they are focusing a lot of energy in that direction.

I think part of managements strategy here is to get this done quickly so that when these guys see they can get a raise by moving up right now they will jump on it, scope be damned.

Their, I fixed your post.
Your original post is garbage. First off if management likes the current contract they can sit on it for years and years. They know they have 4 years at a minimum just based on history and the NMB workload. They probably have almost forever. There are other reasons they want the contract done. Still I don't think we will see a TA.
Our early opener and expidited track to mediation will shave 1.5-2 years off the "traditional contract", whatever that time frame ends up being. Its better to wait for a good all around contract with NO CONCESSIONS than it is to sign a POS just for a few years of "time value of money" and even that assumes zero retro pay which is a very generous assumption.
