Carl - vinegar vs honey. If he's really a cubicle resident there's no chance of convincing him, but also no need to convince him, so why bother responding at all? If he's really a line pilot, though (more likely IMHO), he's one of the guys you need to convince to come to your side, and an attack probably isn't the best way to start out. :)

After reading every post on every TA thread here and on The Dalpa board, I've gone from elated, pi$$ed off, resigned, brow beatened, pragmatic and thoughtful consideration. I've swung from a *** are you kidding me, HE!! No, maybe and finally after Taking the TIME to read ALL of the Nnp's I've come to the emotionally detached decision to vote yes. I will not try to justify or explain my vote or sway others opinions only to say that each of your votes should come from an informed and fact based decision of what is best for you and your family at this time and over the next 3 years. Arguing on here a belittling each other on a public forum does nothing for your point of view and denigrates us as a whole.

I applaud you for taking the time to become informed. The Nnp's are good but they only tell one side. You have to research for yourself unfortunately the potential downsides to this TA. The only thing I will add is scope is going to affect you well beyond 3 years. Changes made will affect the rest of your career. There is no turning back what is done. Scope is my number 1 priority in any TA. It stands alone from every other section. |

My biggest fear as well. 10-15 years from now, we'll be looking back saying, "What in the hell did we do to ourselves? Why are the regionals so large and powerful?"

Why is it so difficult to understand that DCI isn't going anywhere anytime soon regardless of what we tell the company we want because the company has contracts that have to be honored. Until those contract run their course, DCI will be here. So the best thing for us to request (as was done in this TA) is not to increase DCI beyond what is currently on the property, in fact it will be reduced. DAL will get sued to no end by DCI if it attempts to break those agreements early and that would suck for us! Our management was smart enough to negotiate with DCI an agreeable downsizing of total RJ's which will create more Mainline flying for DAL pilots. Isn't that what we want, more DAL passengers being flown by more DAL pilots? As those DCI contracts expire during future contracts, we can negotiate for them not to be renewed but as for now, that is NOT going to happen.
Why are the regionals so big and powerful? Because we had no cap on the amount of flying they could perform for us if this TA gets voted down. |

No need to look 15 years from now, just dial back the clock 15 years AGO! That's when we let the genie out of the bottle. It won't take one contract to get the genie back, but my hope for this contract is simple, "Find the darn plug and where's the genie!"

There seems to be an assumption that big D already has an order in for the 76 seat ac with or without the new TA. I venture to guess that we will see the order for new DCI airplanes this summer. The only thing that will change will be if they arrive with 76 or 69 seats. If they show up with 69 I don't think they will only get 70. If they don't purchase the 717 + the 76s they will have the capital to buy more 69 seat AC, then where will we be scope wise?

Anything over 50 seats is currently limited to 255 jets.
