LAS new SWA crew base
Just read on the SWAPA forum that Greg Crum (VP Flt Ops) announced at BNA meeting yesterday that LAS will be next crew base beginning Sep '07-ish. Official e-mail/website announcement coming out monday. SWAPA v/p and communication guy posted on the thread to confirm what was put out.
Hope that commute works out for everyone ...

This is the SWAPA hotline message for Oct. 30, 2006. This message is e-mailed each Monday or day closest to Monday that is not a SWAPA holiday. Flight Attendants and Pilots can start packing their canyon blue suede shoes for LAS as I’m happy to announce it will be the eighth Crew Base in our system for Inflight and Flight Operations! Due to the considerable costs associated with opening a Crew Base, several factors or criteria are carefully evaluated to determine the need.
We constantly monitor factors like substantial growth in a location, aircraft scheduling (the flow through out our network), aircraft deliveries, facilities, rising hotel costs, scheduling opportunities, and many others and LAS rose to the top. The selection process is just the first step. There is much work yet to be done before the doors can open. Our current plans are to open the LAS Base in the September/October 2007 timeframe. Additional information will be published early next year.
