You've got to be kidding me. Did you really pull that one out?

Like those who advocated for 65, and those who are trying for 67?

I hit 65 in June this year, but I've been retired for 6 years - because I had a pension that allowed me to retire and because I wanted to retire - not because some junior wannabe said that I should.
But you had no gain from those above you who were forced to retire, right? Those average earnings that padded your pension allowing you to retire weren't at all assisted by those required retirements?

I agree with you 100%, however, I believe what you'd find is that a large percentage of guys who could not pass a real FAA medical would be well below Age 60. All you have to do is take a look around your crew room to see all the overweight, hypertensioned, near diabetes-diagnosed guys walking around. Is that what you're after? Because that is what would certainly happen. As well, you need to know your individual contract, because if you have a long-term disability clause in it, those same guys who flunked out on their physical, would just go on LTD and continue to collect a paycheck, which could put an undo strain on your company's financial situation. And all because you feel that you're owed something from the more senior/older guys. Interesting.

Democracy - 2 wolves and a sheep voting on lunch. Good thing we live in a Republic. May the tables not be turned on you one day.

Look - I possibly lost my shot at the majors due to this rule and my age, but I don't advocate using numbers to force someone out to benefit myself. These guys/gals have mortgages, kids in college, multiple ex's, lost pensions and lower salaries. They are doing what they need to do, and you should do the same.

To answer your question, contact your Congressman/woman and ask them to start the process of changing it.

I want it dropped to age 40.

When I hit 39, I want it to 45.

When I hit 44, I want it to 50.

And so on.

I would argue that the age 65 rule is age discrimination. If a pilot can hold a first class medical certificate, they should be able to stay employed at a commercial airline.

Does the OP just think that the Age 65 ruling was the result of some kind of popular vote amongst pilots?

That's an interesting theory.

Sure you would. Now that you've benefited from mandatory retirements you'd have no problem with that.
