I didn't write any thank you notes, and was hired. I'm not saying it hurts but not really needed.

Mike,

You have to merge your resume, cover letter, and LOR's into one PDF. Not sure how to change it once it's been uploaded.
Thanks

Thank you, PRS Guitar. I've been reading thru the whole thread from the beginning since I got the call. Hadn't gotten that high yet. It has been interesting seeing the change in attitude from pre merger to announcement of the merger to now post merger.

I think hes referring to that fact that many of us wouldn't have given USAir the time of day based on their atrocious payrates. The new MOU pay that brings things up to industry standard by 2016 is the reason I applied. I suspect that most people who did decide to apply after this summer were in the same boat as me. Attitudes are a lot more optimistic.

Looks like you new-hires may be flying widebodies international right out of the blocks. April bid result has 22 PHL and 8 CLT 767 vacancies.

That's how things go... I think we had that conversation right after Delta got a big raise.

I'm in the class starting 2/10. Are you saying that our class will be offered 767 slots? Wouldn't other pilots on the seniority list bid this first? I can't imagine there wouldn't be 22 pilots bidding up to 767 in PHL. As a new-hire, it does seem exciting at the chance to fly a wide-body right from the start! I'd be just as happy on the 190 though!

Most likely you will.

Philly is an expensive city so not many people live there or want to move there. It takes a long time to hold a line on the 767. Sitting reserve is horrible especially in a city like Philly. You can hold a line on the Airbus after 15 months and it is a much better A/c. Most would rather hold a line than be stuck on reserve for years flying what are basically red-eyes.

Thanks for the info. Good things to think about. My family and I plan to move to Philly since all of our extended family is up there. I've never really sat reserve (4 months in 13 years!), so I'm not sure if I'd look forward to years of it! It's nice to be able to weigh my options, though! Thanks.

Anybody know if you get moving days for a voluntary base move?
