That does not seem like a very long time for an airframe to last, is this a "normal" time frame to start seeing airframes head to the chopper? Or does it indicate that the 777 is not as well built as the older 707/727/757???
It will be interesting to see with mergers and fleet management how many airlines ditch the 777 and just stick to their 767ER/767/757...we will see if FedEx starts picking up the used market to go with their new order?

A buddy of mine worked for UAM. The owner does very well selling used parts. I'm just guessing he picked it up for a not to cheap price because he knows he'll double his money parting it out. Aircraft salvage is big business. Engines go first, avionics second, and the rest of the carcass after that.
