How are you going to feel when management comes and says we can't compete with this airline unless you come down to there payscale?

Exactly why VX and B6 slugs should be told to pound sand.

Ah yes, the furloughed UAL guy, who's union tried hard and did raise pay rates, who's starting all over and took a job at B6 to feed his family, should be told to "pound sand".

Absolutely! He's the worst one of the bunch...an ALPA member who took work at a non-union airline that undercut union pay rates and benefits. And used the scab excuse "I only did it to feed my family."

Giving a lowlife like that a ride to work is like giving a pedophile a lift to your daughter's elementary school.

Remember, it's a 20 mph speed zone!

If a CASS approved jumpseater comes to my cockpit, he or she will usually get a ride with rare exceptions. Attitude and a respectful request is important!

Velocipede, I've been following this thread since it's inception and just reread it to see if anything new had been added. Frankly I'm very surprised at your comments and a little disheartened at your total apparent lack of caring for your fellow man. I'm not an advocate of providing jumpseats to anyone showing up ((scabs, drunk, smelly (used to happen at FedEx), or bad attitudes), but to not allow a fellow professional pilot a ride, based on the fact that he is working for a company that you feel undercuts the industry, is in my eyes, rather shortsighted. I'm sure, most, if not all of these guys would prefer to be working for a major airline, but as yet it hasn't happened for them. Why not welcome them aboard, and try to give them an appreciation for continuing their fight to get hired by a major carrier.

As was said earlier in this post, most of us working for FedEx, over the years, have been treated very nicely by our people-carrying brethren. We all appreciate it and take great pleasure in having one of you guys on our jumpseat. It's always nice to be able to provide a lift for someone going home, or to work, or on vacation.

Is he being shortsighted or is he simply a jerk?

If your company is on the CASS list, you show up at the appointed time and are polite, professional and cordial, you'll always be welcome on my jumpseat. As long as you aren't on one of the "bad pilot" lists.

Ranger, I completely share your view here. I may be on a "bad pilot" list but it has to do with skill, not when I came to work. :p Happy Holidays!

My rhetorical question for the day: Do you think a Captain flying a Xerox company jet would deny a jumpseat to one of those HP pilots because they're undercutting the industry?

Yes, if the Xerox pilot was asked to take a pay cut because the HP pilots make so much less.
