Default Spirit Realistic First Year Pay

I know the hourly rates and min guarantee are posted. However, with the work rules regarding flying over X hours and other rules, what can a new-hire expect to take home.....especially if they work their butt off?

I would say about 50k. I would say most pilots I know make about 1,000x their hourly rate every year (39K for Spirit first year). Add in a few thousand more for working hard, plus close to 10K of per diem each year.

Anything over 40K would be pretty hard to do, considering the first 2 months is training pay and the next month or two is probably reserve guarantee. Per diem averages about 500-600/mo, but if you'd like to eat I wouldnt count most of that towards your expected monthly income. I have heard of guys in the 50-60k range but its not easy to do.

I worked pretty hard, did 5 JAs, and grossed 45k. Made myself available on days off, tried to get transition conflicts, but was to junior.. If you live in base it may be easier to gross more..

The guys doing 50-60k were possibly working "special deals" ex- dropping trips that they're pay protected for and picking up another at 200% plus move up pay... Those days seem to be over...

I wonder if Spirit has any performance rewards like other airlines to factor in...

LOL Never, unless you are a flight attendant selling credit cards.

Close to 10K in perdiem? How do you manage that?

With per diem currently at $2.10 that's 396 hours TAFB per month. The average hard line seems to have about 250 hr TAFB or so. I suppose $10000 per diem a year is possible for a line-holder but you would be picking up pretty much all the open time you possibly could on days off with as much time away from base as possible. It would still be pretty hard to pull off for a line holder and probably wouldn't be feasible for a first year FO spending 2 months in training and a minimum of 4 or 5 months on reserve.
