and dont think that 20/hr is good pay for first year pilot. sure that sounds good too a teenager who has prob been working for slightly above minimum wage, but in reality you only get paid for about 1/3 to 1/2 of your working time so you are still earning minimum wage.

at least you did the right thing and came here first so you can get the full story, as opposed to the glamorized version that most aviation college's will paint for you

Well when you begin as a pilot you can make crappy money. The longer you are a pilot the more you can make. People always say it is impossible to make it into a top notch airline.... I think it really depends on hrs, luck and who you know. I have seen some Cpts. make as much as $200,000 a yr.

YES, but they all have taken a paycut since you last saw them.

Optimism is a great thing!

Reality is somewhat different. Good luck, Pollyanna.

I looked up what's up with FedEx .... 0 are furlough. They are hiring approximately 30 a month. The lowest paid officer makes like $54/hr which is good compared to others. UPS is a different story. UPS is $33/hr for everyone the 1st yr.

There are also probably 10,000+ resumes that have been sent to FedEx in the past year. So out of those 10,000 folks, 360 pilots have been hired. Not such great odds.

I'm all for optimism, but you also need to open yourself up to the other realities of the profession. I'll do everything I can to encourage new folks, but they also need to be open to all points of view.

You're putting the cart WAAAY before the horse, Blue. Come back and ask again after you've made it through college, gotten your licenses and have at least 1500 hours of turbine PIC time.

Until then, you're just pi$$ing in the wind.
