With that said, Spirit DOES provide ultra low fare service, and provides it with friendlier service than that provided by the Legacies and their RJ feeders.
That's weird, the Spirit flight I flew down and back from my interview had comfortable seats, adjustable headrests and plenty of leg room.
The SWA flight I flew back on a commute had old, hard-vinyl type seats and lackluster service. It's the only time I've been disappointed in flying with SWA.

Exit row?
Big front seat?
Or are you really short?

This is a statement from someone who has almost no comprehension of what Spirit does. It is not a result of a weak AA, and they will not shrink IF AA makes it back to being a dominant carrier. I know we have heard the Mcdonalds/The Keg Steakhouse analogy before but it fits. Maybe more like McDonalds= Spirit, Good Quality Burger at a sit down restaurant=AA.

If anything the growth is directly related to a weak AMERICA! And our permanent under class/ disappearance of the strong middle class.

I haven't noticed the seats being too firm, but yes there is no leg room at all! I don't mind the seat pitch, it's nice not having the 400lbs animal slam their chair all the way back in milliseconds breaking my Ipad/ laptop

Oh I think I have a fair idea how ULCCs work.

The post with the numbers for DFW-ORD was surprising. I wouldn't have thought that was the way it would break down. I hope I am wrong and there's enough room for both Spirit and AA.

I've ridden SPIRIT on a couple of occasions from ORD to LAX late at night. I was SOOO thankful to be on the flights both times and the employees all treated me great.

The seats feel fine for relatively short flights, but man...the 4 1/2 hours spent in those seats on that run highlight the lack of padding on the bottom.

Naw, I was in an aisle seat. Since Spirit doesn't fly to my home airport, I've only flown Spirit twice. I understand there's two different types of seats as the a/c I flew had reclining seats and nice headrests.

It was still pretty cramped, but you don't know cramped if you haven't ridden on a Panamanian Chicken Bus!

It will be very interesting to see JB's planned growth vs NK in FLL... Seems like JB is going after every market NK serves. Maybe both can co-exist? I would like to see a FLL competitive analysis...

Agreed, I'm not sure Blue can make money on the routes by matching fares, but it will be interesting.
