Recall of DAL MEC Officers
#591
I understand what you're saying. And I agree that there is a point where there is nothing left that management is willing to give. DALPA's problem is that they let management set their expectations for them. DALPA in turn lowers the pilot group's expectations. And that's why we are where we are.
We've had our DB taken from us and, by the amendable date, we'll still be working for less than we negotiated for 15+ years ago! But management continues to get their bonuses, stock options, raises (RA's total compensation increased a staggering 42% in 2013 alone!) and we're buying back stock and paying dividends on the DOLLARS TAKEN OUT OF THE PILOT CONTRACT!
I want my union to highlight these facts OVER, and OVER, and OVER and to make the case for RESTORING THE PROFESSION, both to the company and the pilot group.

I would venture 9 out of 10 Reps will have a somewhat different perspective on events. This is hardly "the period to the end of the sentence" anymore than abortion or Obamacare.
Being in the majority does not automatically imply a position was more correct or truthful than the minority position, just that they did a more persuasive job of advocating thier position.

Our reps can't vote MAYBE.
King is free to run for the vacant Chairman position now.
How many votes do you think he'd get?

So how is that different than King's election in the first place? Being in the majority means the body has spoken. That's how King was elected. That is how he was recalled. Are you saying the majority should not matter?

Majority rules, however there is quite a difference between a regularly scheduled election and a recall as soon as you get enough new incoming reps to swing the tide - that tide can swing both ways and it's not the process that "optimizes" results for the DAL pilots. Whatever, you won, the end obviously justifies the means, win the battle, etc., etc.

I agree with you there: there is a big difference between the two processes. If the guys that were in this for revenge are high-fiving each other because "they" won, they're kidding themselves. A lot are tainted. Conversely, those who whistled by and pretended nothing was wrong in the Kingdom are equally discredited.
Oh, I forgot, we are a representative democracy, and the elected reps are the "leaders" which begs the question why the leaders needed a new leader to lead them and the Delta pilots, and why the negotiating committee chairman, who takes his direction from the aforementioned reps via us line swine, basically admitted that he needs a new leader, not those elected reps he works for, to do the job he was elected to do.

I got more info on the recall from a DPA member who observed the two day proceedings than I did from my union which was running the thing.
The DPA notes from this individual were IMO were fair and unbiased--for the most part a summary of what you would have observed had you been there yourself...about 8 or 10 pages worth.

The negotiating chairman made it clear that he wasn't getting the support and assistance he expected from the MEC Chairman.
Should that information be ignored by our reps?
