Guessing the amount of pain is far above my pay grade. I just know that it'll hurt. Mergers rarely benefit the employees.

In order for NWA to have their route structure into and out of Japan, the "new" airline will have to be called Northwest something, something.....

As a Detroiter, I noticed on the news last night on every Detroit channel that NW would be looking to merge with Continental.....what would that do to the pilot groups since CAL has so many new hires, and NW's most junior pilot is a 2001 hire? Is an ALPA merger of pilot lists always date-of-hire? I'm just curious to get some opinions, I have many friends that are new-hires at CAL and my wife just put her app. in over there........

Boys...let me tell you why Delta pilots wear double breasted uniforms. Have you ever seen a Delta pilot walking the concourses with a uniform coat unbuttoned?...No?, well neither have I. It`s just too sloppy looking, and the guys don`t do it. A single breasted coat is an easy thing to leave open. I do it with all of my jackets. All of you boys do it...don`t deny it...I know you do. Look around the next time you go aviatin` and you will see what I mean. Years ago our (read Delta) pilots got a committee together, paid some "twinkle toes" to pick out a new uniform for us. The MEC presented the pictures to our then president, Charlie Dolson. The boss`s comment was "I don`t care what you wear as long as it`s double breasted, dark blue with brass buttons". Well, that settled that. We all know that you don`t fly one bit better in a uniform than you would in a flight suit or jeans and a T shirt. The name of the game is "perception". That`s a fancy word for "let`s fool the public into thinking we are more professional than the other guy".

Default Nobody wants to merge...

w/ NWA. Everyone wants the Asia routes but not the baggage that is NWA. NWA mgmt team sucks and their HUBS are not that desirous! The only thing good about NWA are the awesome frontline employees.

They'll do the same thing they did with the Delta/Western merger......Use half from each company:

DELTA airlines and western AIRLINES

I don't care what the name is, as long as we can lose the hat.

Why is it you guys don't get it! The public doesn't care if you wear double breasted blouses or not, all they want is to get to their destination on time and to leave the terminal with the same bags that they checked in with.

Another question I was wondering about is why do airlines, especially those in financial trouble, always repaint their jets?
