Our crewtrac uses the ship number, so it is easier to put that in the logbook than the tailnumber.
Have any of you had problems in interviews if you used the ship number?
It would be interesting to see a poll of which people use.
thanks

My entire airline career I've logged ship number. That's what was on the release and in CrewTrac at my regional. DL tracks everything by ship number, too. Seemed logical to go with that.
Just be consistent.

I can't speak for interviews, but I know an FO who went for the ATP ride with ship numbers....he had to go find all the N numbers before the ride proceeded. But if Delta is ok with ship numbers as 80kts says, that probably good news for many people.

I did my ATP ride with my regional at upgrade. I don't get why anyone would have a deal with needing N-numbers unless they are trying to justify their own little empire. That's not how most air carriers (re:FAA approved) track and dispatch their aircraft as well as keep crew flying records.

I log my flight time by Registration (n number) and Aircraft Serial Number. I have found that N numbers change and sometimes frequently. Serial numbers can't be changed and positively identify the airframe.
I used to work for a major aircraft manufacturer and we always identified the aircraft by serial number. They also had a block of N numbers that they used temporarily to flight test an aircraft before the customer's N number was painted on.
