800 for a mil dude, pretty much impossible, especially for a fighter dude. That number can't be correct.

Starting at a regional Monday for currency (while floating in the phase II pool from 25 FEB). I'll be nearly bankrupt in 12 months though on first year regional salary . I was hoping for 3 months. After nine I'm going to have to start looking for a corporate gig with my FSI contacts or maybe even go back to teaching 142. I could stomach the pay first time around but now...not so much.

I've got a contact and strong advocate on the inside that has the ear of the chief. Let me ask about the 800. That's high. Given vacations, training, 117, cancellations, scheduling conflicts, etc. that's about max regional flying in a year.

After I retired from the Air Force, I took a job at Expressjet to stay current. In my 6 month here... 101 hours. Reserve sucks.

I agree that it's way too high. That's why I'm skeptical about that number. I just got called for an empty slot for the 28th, so I'll be there for this Mondays orientation. I'll try to get the straight scoop and post it.

Elcid93 - that's the other issue; you're not going to get that much time on reserve. So now what? What regional do I choose for that? Who has the "best of the worst" reserve in which you actually fly and not sit in a crashpad for 6 days?

16.8 hours a month. Fabulous!

They seem to quantify hour requirements differently for mil heavy and mil fighter and civilian. But you are 100% correct, a fighter guy is lucky to get 800 hours in three years, let alone one. I'm highly skeptical of 800 even for civilian ... Is a steady stream of applicants with 800 hours within the last 12 months probable? I doubt it.

Not sure how they select and what order, but I know at least two 26th afternooners that were offered the May 28th class. One even bypassed and deferred to the 18th of june. Both 121

Hvydriver: Double congrats now

Std Deviation: Glad you got into the region so quickly

I'm in a unique position because my flying job only gets me about 200-250 hours a year because of our mission, but I remain current and go through training / checkrides in three different aircraft a year. Never had a single issue with training. I'm also at just uder 5000 PIC time.

If they really want higher times, i better get the kazoos and streamers out to root you guys on

One of the guys that interviewed with me and was offered a class on May 28 was a King Air Driver. 800 in a year? Doubtful. Corporate Fortune 500 averages about 300-350.
