Default Crew luggage

I'm trying to find the best bag I can buy for flying. I've been out of the airline world for a while and jumping back in. I burned out my last one. What are all the cool kids using these days and where can I get the best price? Thanks

The majority of pilots use the luggage works. I think it costs about $270 pretty much everywhere.

There's a lot of luggage threads.

Travelpro is for flight attendants.
Luggageworks is popular but very very heavy. It weighs more empty than my bag does packed.
Strongbags gets generally positive reviews
Costco has a cheap bag that's pretty good
I prefer Briggs and Riley, kinda spendy but light and lifetime warranty.

If your main priority is a bag being lightweight with some amount of durability, what would you guys recommend?

Its amazing how much some of these bags weigh, and I don't really need to be hauling around the durability of a tank.

My two cents-

Luggage Works (purdy neat b4 that) work well and are very durable, but HEAVY. Used them for years when the metal frame was needed to sling the kit bag, and had good luck.
Want to treat yourself? As long as you're using a tablet, take a look at the Eagle Creek Tarmac bag for roughly the same money. Not even half the weight, built with extremely tough materials, and a no-questions-asked lifetime warranty. Outdoor stores generally carry the brand, you can check them out on line. Pair it up with any of the sexy tablet packs available out there now (some even available for aviation-minded folks), and you've got yourself a lightweight, compact setup that's good for a 4-5 day no sweat.

Luggageworks for my rollaboard. (Purdy neat stuff when I bought it). Yup. Heavy, but durable. I have had it reworked a couple of times for a zipper and the handle. If you go this route, get the stainless steel handle.

I just bought a Briggs and Riley bag to replace my Bombay leather bag, and it is a very nice bag. Lightweight, and like you said has a lifetime guarantee. I loved Anil's Bombay bag, but the reality of it is that he charges way too much for those (IMHO). They are made in India for goodness sake.

Strong bags. It's on the heavy side, but very durable.

I bought the middle size (I think its a 24") from Luggage Works. Only instead of the metal frame, I got the plastic frame. It was $220 and its still very durable and lighter than the metal ones.
