Jumpseating On SWA
Hey i was just wondering how the procedure goes when you want to jumpseat on southwest. im trying to from stl to smf, and the flight i want to take is one with one stop. so say there is no plane change on that stop, can i keep my seat on the plane, or will i have to deplane, and then if there's still room i can get on after all the pax. any other info would be a great help is that im very new to this whole jumpseating thing.
thanks a lot

I have had nothing but grood luck jumpseating on SWA between STL and ORF. I usually go through BWI and occasionaly MDW. The people on the non-rev hotline are always very helpful and will answer any question they can, however they do not have cockpit info, you must list for the cockpit if necccessary at the gate. The number in case you don't have it is 866-359-7967. They also have you pre-board, so you are garunteed a window or an aisle (or the center if you so choose?). Good Luck and welcome to the industry.

IIRC, you will have to deplane at each stop and be issued a new boarding card by the gate agent. When you check in for the first flight, let the agent know that you will be continuing with the aircraft at the stop. They might be able to give you two boarding cards, and then the crew may be able to arrange for you to stay aboard, depending on the load.

That number gets you to the ladies who can tell you the loads. Just tell them the flight number and which segment you wish to jumpseat on.
It is first come first for the jumpseat, but if the flight has seats, many captains will take more than one jumpseater.
You can list for non-rev travel in back but that's not what you'll be doing.

It is first come first serve. You'll find that the Capt is usually very accomodating and if they can they will get you on the flight even if its the second jumpseat behind the Capt. We are all out their jumpseating so hopefully we all treat jumpseaters how we wish to be treated. Oh man that was corny.
