I'm in my 28th year at United 757/767 CA. I will have flown 750 hard hours this year but will get paid for about 1220 hours. 6 weeks vacation, trip and duty rigs and lots of soft time pay. Plenty of 5 day trips to Europe - two legs flying for 16 hard hours getting paid for over 26 hours. Also minimum five hours pay for day. Flew lots of trips that get back just after midnight (local non commuter) and make an extra 5 hours pay.
I've averaged about 14 - 15 days off in a non vacation month and 17 to 19 off in a vacation month. I usually fly an extra 15 hours in a vacation month for extra pay. I haven't taken more then one week of vacation in any month, so it's an even split of a vacation to non vacation months.
I probably work slightly above the average but lots of guys at United working harder then me. I've flown with quite a few FO's that make as much or more then me.

So basically you've made well over 350k this year??

I can't tell if this is even a serious statement / question.
My rate today as a 3rd year/ 4 months of 2nd year at JB is roughly 100 an hour . And I ll make 135,000.00 plus this year. (Not adding 401k contribution) Come up with the actual numbers when I get them. But yes I credit and what i fly are two vastly different things . Soft pay rules are what makes or breaks the hourly rate. Even tho guys dog the rates at Spirit and sub standard contracts all the time . They have soft pay rules that allow you to manipulate the system, I would say most airlines have them, some better than others. Of course seniority is also everything as well. The junior guys at most airlines don't have the ability to get them selves into a soft pay situation .

I'm at the wrong legacy airline then. I'm on 2nd year pay with a higher hourly rate than you and I will make no where near $135k. Nor will I next year with a rate of $135/hr. I must be the only one who is missing out.

My point is that while some of you might make well over 100 hours of credit per month, you are outliers. Sure we all have a buddy that really works the system, but 85% of pilots are flying there line with little in the way of extra pay. I would think 85 hours/month of credit is a little more realistic for most. If it were so easy for JB guys to make so much money, then why are they coming to AA in droves. Serious question.

And the point of all the other questions like how much you work and what your seniority is. Seniority gets you more productivity and access to soft time and the ability to push your credit up. Please don't complain. Learn to work your system better for whatever you want to gain be it more time off or more money or whatever.

That's kinda the point of this thread.

No, I get it, but SOME of you, not all are stretching the truth a little. I'll never believe that these pilots are consistently averaging north of 150 hours of credit for an entire 12 months and only flying 300 hours. If they are, there is more to the story and something is being left out.
