Especially with how many military guys they hire. I was in the jumpseat one time and the FO has never flown into LGA, was completely lost. Had no idea what an expressway visual was, the captain was explaining it.

That could happen with anyone not familiar with lga. Former Skywest west coast fo's would be just as lost as the former military guy you witnessed.

It will be about 9-10 months as an FO before the 4 month guy upgrades so I think someone can figure out 121 ops in that amount of time. If not, I'm guessing the LCA won't be showing any forgiveness for bidding something above your ability.

Introduce Kryptonite to the threats to a junior Captain regarding the LGA situations.
That would be, you don't have to land at LGA. Make the PA, tell the complainer type pax you're landing at JFK and Shut The #$%^ Situation UP"
If the Chief complains, put your feet up on his desk and tell him/her it probably won't happen in the future once you have some more stick time in the left seat.
Did something similar to this shortly after upgrading. Short, professional and clear explaining the threats and the command decisions.
Never heard anymore about it.
