While we're on the subject. How about parking while the tug is pointed at you with its lights on? I find that far more annoying and dangerous since I can't see the backlit marshaler and don't park until they turn them off.

Same for the jet bridge driver who turn their laser beam lights just as your abeam the bridge.

Yes, and it's stupid. Why stare at them to see if flashing your lights got them to turn their lights off? That only blinds you further...

Why distract another crew who is taking the runway for takeoff? You are not moving. Close your eyes or look away. And hope the other dummy reads APC so he will know better next time

I obviously don't continue to stare at their "taxi" light (which it seems on some B757s is the equivalent of the Guppy's landing lights)....duh! The Guppy's nose taxi light is equivalent to ****ing on a house fire to try to put it out......i.e. USELESS, which is why I've flashed the turnoff/landing lights in the past to get them to turn their damn "taxi" light off. Seriously, have you had a B757 turn their supposed "taxi" light on while pointed right at you and taking the runway?

Show a little courtesy and common sense and you'll get exactly the same thing in return. Don't tell me that some of these DLA B757 guys are so clueless as to not realize how bright their taxi lights are especially in the above mentioned scenario

Bolo, thats an inference on your part, I posted the FAA "best practices" no where did I say when I turned them on...when I get within approx 60 degress of the center line, my lights come on, when cleared for take off the landing lights go on.

I've seen lots of aircraft at night on the runway with only the position lights on, not a good plan.

We are all super Captain's:rolleyes:

Now let's talk about using the strobes when cleared to line up and wait!

The fact that you retaliate by flashing your own bright lights at someone who is taking the runway for takeoff makes you both imbeciles instead of just one of you...

Have some courtesy and consideration for the people sitting behind that dummy 757 driver. For their sake, try not to distract the guys who are about to cowboy them up into the atmosphere, and whom their lives depend on...

*yes, I know.

If the taxi light were on a treadmill, it would experience a red-shift and no longer blind people. :D

Typical. That childish response tells me everything I need to know about you. You have an attitude problem. Why else would you want to blind or distract another crew while they're taking the runway?

"Oh no, that 757 guy is pointing his shiny light at me for 5 whole seconds! Ouch, my feelings!!! I need to flash this guy down IMMEDIATELY and get him to turn off that DAMN taxi light before he takes off!!!"

Can you not see how stupid that is?

How about keying the mic and say "Nice lights, Thanks." ?

You get a message across, possibly preventing it from happening again, and the F/Os get a laugh. :D

Except they still don't get it. Hence the reason this topic has reached this point. There's two types of pilots, those who have some common sense and those who well.... don't.
