Default DOH: United and USAir pilots???

What is the date of hire of the most junior pilot actively working and last pilot hired at United and USAir (West and East).

Can't we at least give the merger talks time to break down before worrying about seniority integration and the ensuing blood bath to follow?

It's almost like the union senority system and DOH as a factor in a pilots career is destined to be resolved somehow with the USAir folks being involved.

I hope the best for all, there is so much at stake. Great bunch at those airlines.

If you were on the UAL side of the table, would you really expect USAPA to abide by the agreement? Would you ever agree to go to arbitration with them? Not to rehash the relative merits of the East vs West extravaganza, but would you, after watching all that's gone on, believe USAPA when/if you finally reached an agreement?

I'd do some math...is the sum of UAL pilots + USAir West pilots greater than the number of USAir East pilots? I don't see alot of USAPA support in the new company...If this ever happens. Big if.

Yes, that sum is greater. In fact, UA has more total pilots that US.

Were I USAPA in this scenario I'd be concerned.
There WILL be integration.Period! No, It Won't be DOH, It WILL go to arbitration and It will first go to the AGREED upon arbitration between AMwest and USAir, THEN it will AGAIN be arbitrated between UAL and USAir. Who CARES if they're unhappy? Ual-ALPA sank an ENTIRE AIRLINE rather than broker a deal they didn't like, Y'think USAPA will stand in the way of what they want?? What are the USAPA Pilots going to do?? Quit?? Hold that Thought.. Then, they'll either abide or "agitate the gravel" leaving the parking lot . That at least would be my take on it. Maybe they could bully those poor fellows at America West but they WON'T be bullying anybody over at United.. We can and WILL fly everything they have at USAir with or without their help. There are what, 1100+ pilots on furghlough from UNITED?? And we can't fly a couple of extra Airbus A319,320,321's 757,and 767S Are you kiddng me?? We MIGHT have a problem when we run out of FO's for a couple of weeks with the A330, but I DOUBT more than that because some USAir pilots WILL come over to fly them. Especially those who KNOW they're going to eventualy fly the 747/777's.The majority of USAPA can stay or Leave because the Amwest pilots and the furghloughted USAIR pilots I'll bet GOOD MONEY wouldlooking for seats if offered. If NOT every regional Pilot in the western Hemisphere!! You know it,, and I know it!!
SO, Let's talk REALITY!! What they'll need to do is "fish or cut bait".
UA-ALPA is the ruling Union and that's all the FAT LADY SANG!!
I think it's as simple as that. Then we'll see EXACTLY how THEY feel about "fairness". This ENTIRE debate is ridiculous!! What USAPA did to the AMwest pilots was under-handed, double-dealing dry-gulching, decietful, and cowardly!! TOTALLY without Honor! They gave their WORD and reneiged on it!
Why should they be Welcomed with opened arms?? Their mechanics will be Teamsters Why? Because We're Teamsters! The Customer Service IAM. the Flight Attendants AFA. What the Hell? None of this is rocket science! It IS what it IS!! We've got all KINDS of problems to solve and a Matter of a group Honoring THEIR WORD shouldn't BE one of them!!
USAPA HAD to know this might happen one day. And if it Didn't happen with United then it WOULD eventually happen. They should be happy I'm not running ALPA, They'd pay EVERY Nickel in assesments and dues they missed TO ALPA before they'd come back as members in good standing!! And that would be for being STUPID enough to renig on a bargain made in good faith!!

I want to see how much money ALPA National gives the UAL guys in an ALPA-to-non-ALPA merger...

Incredible. The New York Times breaks a story of a possible merger between U.S. Airways and United (third proposed trip down the aisle) and everyone is already jumping on the seniority issue. East vs. West vs. United pilots....plueeze folks.

The Fat Lady isn't even in the auditorium yet...

G'Luck with that battle !
