I liked it when it was CAL but this looks cheap for the merged carrier. Find a new paint job to show the new carrier imho.

I think its a big mistake taking the United name, in Latin America which is probably COs most profitable route network, United is just another word in the English language, nobody even has a clue that that airline exist. They are gonna have to spend some serious marketing $$$$ in LatAm before they change the name.

As of right now that is the tentative scheme, but obviously it can and probably will change by the time they actually bring them to the paint shop... Maybe they could have just kept the "United" font they presently have on their planes.

Maybe eventually...

Management estimates $1.3Bn on merger costs.

Let's spend more on pilot pay and less on paint...what do you say?

I like it. The gray/blue United "British Airways" paint is horrible and dangerous. You can't see those airplanes on a hazy day. The "new" United white over blue is better, but the Continental livery is a classic.

Even better let's not waste any money on paint jobs and see this venture make money as a business, as an airline. Pilot pay will take care of itself if we can make a profit. This paint job has to cost less and be easier to maintain than the darker multi shaded "rhapsody in blue" livery.

I guess they could save money just changing the UAL tails and the CAL lettering.

Merging corporate IDs is nicer than erasing all signs of it, like, um, I dont know...DELTA?!

I think the CAL paint scheme will be easier to maintain. All that Blue tends to fade over time and the composite shops will be better equpped to maintain White cowls and radomes. I HOPE that Font on the United goes away, and changes to the arial font UNITED.

I like it, too, but prefer a different way to present "United". On the aircraft operating in Latin America, I'd just make it "United Continental" for about 10 years.
