We agree on this part of what you say. Where we disagree on is whether this is the industry norm.... it is pretty much the industry norm to have street captains with 1,000 hours at every regional except Xjet and Republic.

Envoy is at least a respectable airline with a highly respected training department. Mesa, well.....

Why aren’t you there then, instead of being stuck at a sinking ship?

LMAO. You really think Mesa just passes anyone and makes it easy? Believe what you want. Plenty of people fail; initial, upgrade, recurrent. You have to bring your A game.

Enough with the bashing Mesa; your regional (whatever it is) isn’t any better or worse.

He’s probably one of the guys that got walking papers in the sim and now he’s on here for revenge.

I don’t think so. My theory is he is a Xjet pilot who has watched his airline destroyed. He is bitter. And, the fact they have a 6 year upgrade, just got awarded 20 CRJ200’s in ORD for United after SGU took away their 200’s saying that 200 flying is not profitable, has made him extremely jealous of Mesa success in IAH. Meanwhile, he suspects Xjet won’t get the new 25 E175SC’s coming online for UAL. (I don’t necessarily think we will get any of the new Ejets either).

If he was in our jumpseat, he is probably personable and the kind of pilot we wished would fly here at Mesa.

Neither you nor calmwinds know how many hours these 3 month upgrades have. And it’s not like it’s a lot of them. It’s 3 of 27. Far fewer than any regionals street captain program.

As far as CA to CA maybe no one requested it.

First, it isn’t a street captain program, but close to it. Envoy’s program hires a pilot at 950 hours, provides a $45,000 signing bonus, pays you CA pay from day one....

I never said how many hours our pilots had. However, it is my understanding they go in seniority order for any pilot who is “captain qualified” and bids for an upgrade. If this incorrect, let me know.

If that is correct, that means anyone who already had 1,000 121 time and two captain recommendations would have been awarded that was more senior. When you dip over 200 FO’s into the seniority list to find an upgradeable FO, it is pretty clear that anyone with enough time would be awarded. And, we only awarded half the awards than was included in the standing bid —- which means anyone who was qualified and bid got the award.

Some regionals are better than others for certain things. Pick the one that works for your situation. Once you get out of the regionals, you'll be flying with the guys you once cursed if you fall for this crap. Some of the pilots I really enjoy flying with were from Skywest and Express Jet. None of us care about the regional bullcrap from before.
