MAGPBS, what's the excuse for this one?
Regarding trip D5534, on the last day, there is no flying, and they DH you back to base at almost 6 p.m.! What is the point of making you sit around Amarillo all day if they're not utilizing you?? What's the reasoning this time? I'll be interested in hearing about it!

Yet again this took 3 minutes to figure out and has nothing to do with my position, all done with the aa website.
The pairing in question starts on Monday the 19th.
That means the day in question is Thursday the 22nd.
What's Thursday the 22nd? Oh yea, Thanksgiving.
One quick look at Aa.com shows a 5a, 8a and 10:30a. None of which you are legal for with a midnight arrival. Next flight out? The 4:38 dh that the pairing has.

I have to ask, what's your endgame inall this. You sure like to get confrontational about pairing stuff that all have logical, real world answers to why they are the way they are. And all can be figured out by spending five minutes on the aa website.

If it's not a reserve assignment, by the contract you can be released from the deadhead with full pay.

There's no legal requirement that you have rest before a deadhead. There's no legal requirement that you have rest after 121 flying. You only need rest BEFORE 121 flying.
If they might use you on reserve (or Junior man) after the deadhead, then you would need the rest. Maybe they do that because it doesn't cost anything to make you sit at the hotel, and it keeps their options open?
