No Land-

For some people commuting isn’t that bad. Some of us even like this job BECAUSE we are able to commute. Some of us have worked 16-17+ day stretches with equal time off in other careers and have determined that it isn’t for us. Just as you have determined that working 3-5 days with a commute on each end isn’t for you.

And that’s ok. Everyone has different priorities, and I’m sincerely happy to see that you have found a company that you not only enjoy flying for, but are passionate about.

However.

Looking for EVERY SINGLE CHANCE to proclaim to the world the “I DON’T HAVE TO COMMUTE” and “I ONLY DO ONE TRIP A MONTH!!!!” etc. does not make you seem like the professional and genuinely caring pilot that some of your compatriots at K4 have said you are in person. It makes you seem obnoxious and insecure.

I'll back off. It's just that I had the same exact feelings when I was a regional pilot, about the 16 or 17 days being too much, etc, etc. Just trying to help people to have a more open perspective and not be lead by blinders which is very hard to do. You only know what you know.

WTF. Are you kidding me! I really hope Mesa pilots understand how they are about to get f-u-c-k-e-d in the a-s-s if this is true. Just look at your pay rates now! A ten year captain isn't even busting $90 an hour! Mesa pilots will be flying those 737's for **** money. Your union is **** and they will not get you a good deal.
I get freshly minted pilots will be chomping at the bit to fly 737s. They will do so for a year or two, wise up, and then realize everyone else flying 737s is making double or triple what they are. And only then will they speak up, but it will be too late.

I Really hope you guys don't get the chance to fly for amazon. This is Amazons way of whipsawing pilots.

Absolutely true, and I totally understand why you are doing it. I just wanted to try and explain why you might be getting some of the blowback that you are.

Ok. Enough of that. That was way to cordial and professional for APC.

So, by announcing 737’s that are way outside of the MTOW scope clause limitations for UAL, does that mean Mesa is throwing in the towel as far as keeping their 175’s? Does this have anything to do with Air Wisconsin being mentioned as one of the regionals potentially mentioned for getting the next 20 E-175’s UAL ordered in Paris?

There. That should get things back on track.

Was having a group discussion this morning with fellow K4 pilots, all were regional guys with ASA, Mesa, and Sky West being represented. We were all laughing about that bullcrap, no one cares!
“No one cares!” Yet you’re always here. Come on man, let’s be real about this. If you don’t care about any of this then stop posting here, pretty simple. We get it for the millionth time, K4 works great for you, and you love it.

And attitude like that is why the mainline guys sold off scope years ago.

Well done.

I disagree. While it’s not technically a violation of scope or a B-scale, it serves the same insidious anti-profession purpose. It’s one thing for Mesa to whipsaw other regionals, it’s another to start whipsawing 737 and bigger operators to the extent and extremes JO does. And the sad thing is, a lot of the Mesa peeps might go for it.

I didn’t think Contract 2017 would pass, but particularly among the newer and/or hidden-skeleton pilots, many cockpit conversations indicated a prevailing but unfortunate mentality of take-what-you-can-get. That’s bad for the profession, short sighted, and spineless. If JO offers CRJ rates +$20 like before, I hope the union tells him to pound sand like before. Anything lower than Sun Country’s scale would be a pathetic pittance and real threat to career advancement everywhere else.

Scope and regional politics are always important.

When you get out, you'll stop caring too. However, this 737 deal is new territory. It's not an attitude, it's an observation, and a hard truth.
