Mesa is not publicly traded anymore. It is a privately held
company.

Some of the attitudes I've seen expressed recently by guys with 50 hours of 121 time make me think they're only an icy runway (or taxiway) away from getting violated at any time.

Nah, Capt. I got this 28 knot gusting xwind approach in blowing snow--I'll be fiiiine. If we gotta go around, just remember--I played FlightSim for, like, 60 hours on reserve in Dulles last week brah. And my Dad's got like, tons of money and bench presses a lot. So, respect...chill mane.
I've heard this come up a lot from captains I fly with.

A chum of mine is a new-ish Captain at CPZ, said last week flying with a brand new FO. He was taking all these photos in the clouds. Was totally in awe of being between layers.

The reason why he was so excited is because before that day he had ZERO ACTUAL INSTRUMENT TIME.

Nada.

1500+ hours, ATP typed in an E175 and has never flown an airplane in actual. Oh, and BTW this guy will upgrade the minute after he gets 1,000 SIC. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

First, in response to your weight post, your comments are ridiculous. You can't make an argument to exclude flight crews without making an argument to exclude passengers. Should disabled people not fly because of the difficulty of getting out of a an airplane? Why doesn't the government have strict weight regulations for bus drivers, truck drivers, or crane operators? All of these professions put lots of lives at risk in the event of health problems yet they have no "SIC" to back them up. Just because you hate fat people doesn't mean they aren't cool enough to be in your club. Deal with it.

As far as your comment about "millenials," it is easy to point out someone with a clear and unfounded bias. People have been told that millenials are lazy and entitled. I'm a millenial (and some define me as a late Gen x), as definied by my year of birth and I can promise you, most of my peers are anything but lazy or hot shots. These same "millenials" are PICs in military aircraft dropping bombs and hauling cargo yet I don't see the military being any less ready to fight a war. We have millenials controlling nuclear weapons, leading 18 year olds into war, getting involved in government and yet none of them are lazy or entitled. It is YOUR job as a Captain to mentor them, to talk to them about the hazards of the things they are doing wrong. If a newly minted Captain slides off a runway, it wasn't because of (insert whatever excuse you'd like), it was because no one took a minute to mentor him. I've flown with Captains who think they run the show and even me asking why they did something, just out of curiosity is met with hostility and a fear that I'm questioning their authority. Get over yourselves. Gen X folk, you're not special and you didn't have it hard.
