Getting Phoenix based with Mesa
#20
The latest I know:
ORD is shutting down to consolidate operations at Dulles.
Dulles is therefore expanding.
Charlotte is downsizing.
Phoenix is expanding, in part to accommodate the new LAX flying, which probably won't be a base itself.
Dallas remains a credible rumor, but nobody really knows until corporate announces it. But it seems possible another American domicile may open as a result of the US/AA merger combined with American looking for more regional flying to be done.
As for getting Phoenix based, while its exact amount of expansion isn't firmly known more spots should open with each bid. Along with some new hires requesting East coast bases and a small amount of PHX attrition, holding PHX is a long shot for a new hire (though anecdotally not impossible) but realistic in 2-5 months. However, pilots displaced from ORD and going to PHX instead will have an adverse effect on junior pilots trying for Phoenix.
