It's EMJ-170 or EMJ-175. It is not a ERJ

ERJ stands for embraer regional jet and refers to the 135/140/145 series.

EMJ stands for embraer medium jet and refers to the 170/175/190/195 series.

Guys do this all the time on the line and it drives me crazy.

Okay I'm going to be "that guy".

It's actually EMB-145, and ERJ 170/190.

That's the type rating printed on your license.

I just went and looked, you're correct. My cert does say ERJ170 ERJ190.

I still know that Embraer refers to the EJET as the EMJ and the 145 as the ERJ.

Either way it's a dumb thing to bring up for argument on these forums. God knows we all already argue about enough stupid sh*t.

I wasn't trying to argue the marketing terms can get confusing. I do think Embraer is trying to get away from the "RJ" label even though the type rating still says ERJ.
