But why would anybody invest in a FFD carrier with "razor thin margins" like Mesa? Especially with fear and concern over an upcoming pilot shortage?

Why would anyone invest in any airline.... It is a ridiculous investment.

They already have. That's why Mesa is still in business.

You don't invest in a company (or not) because of its profitability (or lack thereof). Profitability doesn't have much to do with a company's valuation. It's more about growth and future revenue/earnings. People invest in companies all the time that lose money quarter after quarter.

What guys keep failing to understand is that people are currently invested in Mesa. It's other companies and hedge funds, not retail investors. JO doesn't own this company. He answers to other people believe it or not. Clearly they (professional fund managers) think there is a future with the company (or they bought their share at a significant discount). Going public just gives access to more investors, from other companies and funds to retail investors like you and me. It makes the company more liquid and easier to deal with for mergers and acquisitions, or reducing/adding to funds' position, among other benefits.

Default New rumors...

Here it goes, every E-jet Envoy gets, they are giving a 145 to Express Jet... This is fact, not rumor... The rumor is that Envoy is taking back flying from Mesa with every E-jet they get, as told by an Envoy MX person...
So, Express Jet is expanding DFW, Envoy taking back more flying, Mesa shrinking DFW ops...
Sounds about right...

Yea that's why we are completely updating and expanding the crew room in DFW right? Haha. I can see Envoy and Express Jet using 145's in DFW but Envoys 175's probably won't be going to DFW at all since we have the 900's there for the higher capacity routes. I heard Envoys 175's will be going to ORD or MIA, maybe even in LAX if they kick Compass out.

First 20 175's are going to be based in DFW arriving next month revenue service starts in febuary. Should have almost 10 by then.
How many 900s does Mesa have in DFW?
We all know they don't have extra gate space, so some aircraft are leaving Dallas. It might be 145's going to PDT in PHL.

I'm not sure of the exact number of 900's in DFW i'm sure someone else can chime in on that. The problem is that there are only a handful of gates that the 900's and 175's can even fit into. Unless there will be some renovations to expand this?
