I have a section 13 hearing on Wednesday. My almighty ALPA rep says it is doubtful I will get fired.

Section 13, or section 8?

What is section 13 hearing? And how does it differ from Catch 22?

I have an interview tomorrow morning and looking at a class date of October 13th if I get an offer. I would appreciate any constructive information regarding the training process as this is my first 121 job and I've been away from flying professionally for a while. Also, I was told by a recruiter that I have a choice between the E-Jet and the CRJ. my ultimate goal is to get assigned the Phoenix base which I understand is senior so if I pick the CRJ what are my chances of getting DFW versus IAD flying the 700's? Finally, can anyone confirm the information I was given that reserve time is 1-3 months?

Thanks for your time!

Training at Mesa is probably one of the few good things about this airline. If you've been out of the flying game for a while, just brush up on basic FARs and limitations and IFR rules and you should be fine. The training department is great and they will walk you through everything. Just study hard and don't get distracted during training.

The most junior FO in PHX right now is a DEC 2015 hire, so it's gone quite senior. You can expect 8-10 months before you can hold PHX. The most junior line holder in PHX is oddly an OCT 2015 hire, so you could probably hold a line after a year.

When you finish training, you can expect to be in DFW or IAD depending on your choice. It seems you can have your pick right out of training.

Might be better off at SKW, with as long as it takes to get Phx at Mesa. Fwiw an FO just quit Mesa, went to SKW, and they paid off his training contract, plus he got a signing bonus, and his starting pay is higher than year 2 Mesa pay. I think he had a shorter initial course as well since he went crj to crj.

If you are going to get stuck at a regional, may as well go to one that is competitive on QOL, pay, benefits. Mesa doesn't want to be.
