Default UAV time count for airline currency?

I'm about 90% sure the answer is no, but just checking if anyone had any updated data on whether or not airlines accept UAV time as "currency" or are UAV pilots considered "out of the cockpit" in the eyes of the airlines? Thanks.

No, not in any way shape or form. And don't give anyone the impression that you think it should count either...after that whole drone warrior medal debacle, a lot of people have a bad taste in their mouth especially old school aviators (who may have been out of the mil long before the drone boom). You want to present yourself as a winged aviator who had to fly drones for a while, not a chest thumping drone advocate. I'm sure you know all this, but it's worth emphasizing.

Now I would assume that all else being very equal, a UAS tour would be better than a desk at the pentagon in the eyes of the airlines.

Totally agree, just curious how airlines "view" UAV experience. I have solid mil flying background flying heavies and T-6 UPT, just considering currency options after my looming non-flying tour and civilian transition.

They don't view it as anything. It isn't a positive or a negative, it just isn't relevant to what they're evaluating in a potential interviewee or newhire.

yep its a big fat NO. I'm a UAS operator in the Army Guard, and not a single hour counts towards my civilian time, which sucks for me cause my agency has Predator B's which I would like to operate, but until I reach the magic 1500hr mark, my agency wont let me touch one. I'm at 2000 hrs UAS time, which is worthless other than telling war stories.

I don't think UAS time should count at all towards manned ratings/currency. but it does seems like it should count towards other UAS qualifications...
