Has anyone gotten a call recently? I put an app in January and haven't heard back since getting my score. I did hear from other government employees that they probably won't call until the current hiring window closes, which is end of May I believe.

My score was 89 with 1500TT, 400 Jet, 2 types and experience in mountainous terrain. I was as surprised as anyone my score came back so high.

I think it was the 2 types and mountainous terrain that helped you. I have a little over 1500 TT, and 1050 Jet but only got an 83.

The 2 types made a big difference. I have 2500TT, 1500 Jet, with mountain, only one SIC type, and got a 90 (which includes the 5 veteran points).

Does anyone have info on the UAS positions? Should I start a new thread on the UAS position? It sounds like a good alternative for low scoring furloughed pilots like myself. That's if its less competitive than the the AIA position.

GOTBOOST, if you're still monitoring this thread, or anyone that interviewed early December, can you post when or if you got a call from the investigator for the "eyeball to eyeball" meeting?

thank you.

Avanti,
Greetings. If you have not found out yet it is a long procces to get hired by the feds, but there are thousands of jobs if you got the qualifications. Not only CBP but Homeland Security, ICE and all the rest need pilots as do fed fire agencies.
Ive worked with the feds in fire aviation for years. Here is the direct link to the hiring site and lists. If it does not go through go to usajobs.gov and search aviation or pilots

USAJOBS -

Let me know if you got any other questions.
Later,
Matt

Uh.....yeah. CBP is Homeland Security. No ICE pilots anymore, just CBP and the Coasties.

I called in to check the status of my faxed in documents. They told me over the phone they scored my app an 88. Applications are being sent to the recruitment dept. for evals and selection process. The person on the phone said she has heard of people getting interviews with an 88. I got my fingers crossed.

3300TT 850TPIC 1100Jet 3 Type ratings.

I can imagine that she probably said that to keep your hopes up (not saying don't do it, I have my fingers crossed and I got an 84) but there are people here who applied with high 90's that still haven't had a call.

They havent called anyone because they just started sending apps to the recruitment process. Plus I highly doubt it that she was blowing smoke, she sounded sincere and she said "yes I have heard of people getting called with an 88."
