I’ll probably need to talk to a recruiter to get more info, but here goes. Okay, the situation is this:
26 years old with a liberal arts degree in political science. Life long dream of flying military, but will be fine if I can’t and am forced to go civilian.
Not a U.S citizen, instead a green card holder/ legal resident. Now I know I can’t be an officer unless I am a citizen. I just got my green card and was told that unless I marry a citizen, I have to wait 5 years before I can apply for citizenship. That will take me to the age of 31.
I am aware that the air force has pushed its age limit to 30, so I’ll be a little out of luck.
So the question is, what are my options/chances, if any of going military, could I get a waiver for prior service if I enlisted now? Or should I just do civilian and forget the military route?
Suggestions please.
Thanks

I'm sure there's waivers for anything, but it looks like your best bet would be to go Reserves or Guard after you're eligible to become an officer. Most of the older folks in UPT seem to be reservists.
Try talk with recruiters, they'll be the subject matter expert on this.

Not quite sure but they have a pretty decent search engine that could point you in the right direction. If you can't find it with the search then ask away lots of military experience on that board.

Sounds like you already know the answer! Not sure its worth it!
Just kidding!!!!
Guard/Reserve are most likely to waive the age rule. But keep in mind it is also a matter of supply and demand!
Good luck!
