I am not aware of any transport category military airplanes which were later re-purposed for commercial 121 PAX airliner use.
Many would need full FAA certification, etc.
The DC-3 may be the only exception, not sure if the C-47 came first or the DC-3 came first.
Some attempts have been made to re-purpose the C-130 design into commercial/civilian pax and cargo ops but those have had minimal success. yes they are used in public-use firefighting.

The C-135 actually beat the B-707 into production by almost a year.

Don’t tell that to the F-8 guys, they’ll hang ya! Humbled many a Hun driver. Oh, then there’s a Phantom.

I was talking planes, too. The F-8 was a contemporary of the Hun—it weighed 3,500# less (18% less!), flew about M.5 faster, slightly less wing area, out turned a Hun. And, killed pilots at about the same rate. Both had guns installed.
i had a couple of F-8 guys in my ANG squadron, had to listen to it all. One converted to the A-10, had never previously flew a twin engine plane, took awhile to stop having the CC tell Him to start #2.

The C130 has been very successfully operated as a pax and cargo craft in the civilian world, both internationally and in the U.S. Lynden Air Cargo, the earlier version of Southern Air, and even Delta Air Lines had a C130 fleet!
