I'll PM you.

If he's truly military he would be on this section of the board somewhere. Mil guys don't hang out on the regional section exclusively.

I was thinking the same thing. For instance, Marine aviator gets out 5 years ago and goes to VA guard....what do you think?

reCAL: I did a quick internet search and sadly, the "fast neat average" answer is very easy to find.

Suprisingly, the PROPER words to Mary Anne Burns are not.

You are correct that concievably a former Navy/Marine guy hired by the VANG could be now flying F-22's. That's a pretty small pool of dudes.

Still makes me wonder why he would be posting in the Regional Section and not haunting the military section. Somebody with that type of experience is probably not looking at getting a job in the regionals.

I don't know where the VANG is with respect to their Raptor training but as of a couple months ago they were still flying red air for us at Oceana with Vipers. They do not actually have jets in Richmond but rather are commuting to Langley or so I'm told. I will ask our contacts in Richmond about the Hornet guy if he's there. We in Oceana havn't heard about him in our squadron. I would think it would have been mentioned esp since they have given us Red for the past year and a half.

As for faking being a pilot, one word. WOW!

As I understand it, they're never going to have 22's in Richmond. The pilots are always going to fly out of Langley.

Total force associate units are the wave of the future...like it or not.

As for the F-16 and F-18 possibility- have a bud that flew both under a service exchange- NOT both in the Navy. Had to learn 2 ways of doing business and 2 jets. You don't have to fly OPFOR to be in the Navy and fly F-16s.

Slightly off topic but interesting story. In the mid 90s my wife (former USAF RN) and I were in a Green Bay, WI resturant and observed a couple of WI State Trooper Pilots in uniform wearing USAF pilot wings. I commented to my wife they must be former USAF pilots.

Skip forward a couple of years and we were at an EAA Convention and stopped at the WI State Trooper Aviation display. Again they were all wearing USAF pilot wings. I had to ask. The response was, "One of our guys flys with the guard. We liked the looks of his wings, so we all got them. " It was totally matter of fact and innocent. They liked them and did not realize the significant of those wings to others.

I wrote a letter to Gov. Thompson explaining the meaning of the wings (Many friends loss in Vietnam) and expressing my concern over their misrepresentation on the state uniform. To my suprise, he wrote back, agreed with my concern and said they would have new wings designed. Never checked the final outcome.

Am I the only one who gets uptight when I see a small town chief of police on TV wearing a circle of five stars on their uniform ?

That's possible, but doesn't explain the F-22...nobody gets two exchange tours and the raptor is too new anyway. If he is legit (not likely) he was probably AF who did a navy tour. Remotely possible Navy hornets, then ANG vipers, then ANG raptors but the guard is just barely starting with raptors as we speak...unlikely.
