I only ask because ASUpilot says somthing about 11B being -178, but I can't find that anywhere on that matrix. Which leads me to believe he's looking at a different one...

Shows the shortage for 11B as 178, though I don't know the link will work.

What I'm more curious about, what's with the immense shortages from the 2005/6 year groups, particularly in 11M and 11F? Is that just reflecting the fact that UPT + FTU takes a while or did they just not create any for those year groups? I mean, we can't be short 414 heavy copilots can we? Granted, I can't see how a 2006 guy could be at a unit yet but I'm clearly not understanding how they come up with the numbers.

If you do the math for a 15 year guy, it's a fair chunk of change.

Still not seeing the same matrix you guys are. What does 2003 11R say?

Between 4pm and 8pm Pacific time, it looks like they changed the matrix that was posted online.

Not to bring you down, but did you get the e-mail asking for volunteers for 365 day tours to Iraq to instruct in C-172's. PIT or FTU instructors were the pre-reqs, so AETC isn't safe anymore either.

Anyone know what defensive systems the C-172 has?

Where are people coming up with that training is taking place in C-172s? The only message I saw talked about the SAMA CH-200 as the aircraft.

I've heard and read both the SAMA and the C-172...defensive systems? I believe you fly around with an M-4 in the back seat in case you go down in hostile country...which is pretty much anywhere. Pilot training out in the "sticks" though, not near any major cities.

But back to the topic on the thread - I don't understand the AF anymore...they're offering Force Shaping to 2005 people but all of the those numbers show way, way negative. WTF?

Yeah doesn't make sense to me either. Lots of stuff the AF does doesnt make sense to me anymore. I wished I had listened to those majors who told me to go guard from the beginning while I was still a cadet

Well ya did...I didn't get the memo on that one. I appreciate you letting me down easy though.

I think the one I got was for the SAMA, and I don't even know what that is. However, the location was Taji, while it is somewhat in the sticks--it is incredibly bad guy land. There is no fixed wing runway there (nothing big enough for us anyway), so rotary only, and we've lost a lot of rotary there. Taji is bad, real bad, even by Iraq standards
