Rob,

You need more PIC time... and hopefully you did not include the 200 hours in the total for UPT... because that does not count.

Bets bet is T-1s like they said above... but without more time I don't think you have a shot with any of the majors... maybe regionals.

Good Luck
Ug

Just a recommendation but I would spend a lot more time on this website getting familiar with the lingo. Good luck.

I guess what I'm getting at is when I leave the AF in March.... where should I go?

It looks like I'm qualified minimally for most of the majors, but since I put my apps out a week ago I've just heard back from Regionals mainly. Citation Shares also sent me a follow up questionaire.

Any thoughts? I'll give a six pack to whoever leads me the right way!

Cheers!

Just remember to go in with your eyes open. You said it yourself--you are minimally qualified for the majors. You will be competing against civilian guys with much more PIC and TT hours, along with old fart military guys like me with lots of time and experience. I'm not saying we are any better pilots, but put two resumes together and the one with more flying time will always look better.

Find a good reserve job first. If you can't, find a job that will get you PIC time quick--preferably turbojet; and is one w/pay you can live with. QOL for you at this point, shouldn't be the top priority. Otherwise you will be severely limited in what you can find.

Best of luck!

You could consider a reserve transition to a Navy C-130 squadron. SELRES deploy for no more than 2-weeks a year without volunteering for it. Nothing too close to Texas though since they are in Pt Magu-CA, Andrews AFB-MD, New Orleans-LA, and Brunswick ME (moving to Jacksonville-FL.) PM me if you want a contact.

Thanks for all the help guys! I'm kinda getting the feeling that I'll need to do a couple of years in the regionals. I've got interviews with several lined up. I'm thinking of Colgan or ExpressJet. Any comments? It seems like there's so much trash thrown around in the regional forums I can't quite figure out what's B.S. and not. Any that I should definately stay away from? PM with those if you don't feel like adding to the forum trash heap.

Thanks again!

and yeah the only PIC time I've listed is the time I logged since becoming an AC.

So you haven't counted your T-1 IP time as PIC?

As far as the Reserves go, you mentioned the 340 FTG. Did you interview at Randolph or with the other UPT bases? I was recently hired to T-38s at CBM, and my understanding was that most of the other bases and aircraft had openings available. I'm sure you've probably covered all the bases, so my apologies if that's the case.

Good luck in your civilian job search.

Gotcha. My advice would be to concentrate on the guard/reserves as not only will it pay more but you will get a shot at PIC quicker. You'll be surprised how many people you know in the herk units/T-1 units. Good luck and let us know how it worked out. I was at Dyess on the crip side of the house. Feel free to PM me for further questions.

1000 PIC!!!! But I think I know with CAL you just need 500 PIC and 500 SIC Turbine. It really is more about who you know to get the interview, especially CAL
