Hey everyone,
I was talking to a recruiter from the Canadian Air Force and I was asking him about getting free training from the Military. He told me that it would better to specialize in aircraft like the C-17 doing cargo and transport missions rather than becoming a fighter pilot flying Canada's CF-18s. But I want your opinion. If I want to get a job with a Major Airline in a future, would it be smarter to specialize on a larger 4 engine aircraft than going into the fighter program? Does it really matter? What do you think?

Slice,
It wasn't me asking, it was him telling. I was asking about the F-18 program and, and then started talking about becoming a comercial pilot...That's when he came and it told me the premis of my previous question.

I don't think any fighter pilot has been denied a job at an airline after his military career simply because he flew a fighter instead of a heavy.
Plenty of fighter dudes flying at and getting hired by majors.

I understand, but if you really want to be a fighter pilot you wouldn't need to ask this question. You would pursue it regardless of future airline aspirations.

Dreamer,
I wouldn't let future aspirations of a commercial career drive my choice on what platform to fly for the next 10+ (or whatever commitment Canada has) years. Fly something you have always dreamed of, thought was cool etc.. and let the cards fall where they may when/if it's time to trade in the military wings. Just remember that military flying is truly a different gig than the commercial side of the the house. I'm sure there are more than enough posts out there to highlight these differences.
To answer your question, both fighter/heavy pilots have good chances to get hired by a commercial carrier.
Good luck in your ponderings!

No kidding... C-17 and CF-18 aren't even in the same league... I would jump at the CF-18s any day.
