I deployed and worked with Dave after 9/11. He was a great guy and made a mark on on many people, me included, and he will be missed. We worked in Admin together and had a blast. His sense of humor was what made him standout. He was a fun Cobra pilot to hang around.

He is survived by a wife and young daughter.
It reminds me that this can happen to any of us and look at flying and family with respect and love.

Get this. I got picked up off of reserve to cover a trip in open time and our leg from ATL-PBI, we flew the remains of the student killed in the crash. It was quite moving when Marine detail was there to meet us as we pulled up to the gate. Other interesting news, my CA's son is a Marine student in VT-6!

Marines do it right IMO. Remember I said that the XO (a Marine) was in Savannah waiting for those guys to show up? Well....when he got word about the mishap, he of course called the CO who incredibly told the XO that there was nothing he could do and should stay in Savannah. The XO's response says it all. [Two of my Marines just died. I'm headed home]

The VT-6 XO is as solid as the come, at least IMO. I only fly with them, he's not in my chain so no ass kissing here. I personally have a lot of respect for the man.
