It seems dumb for big blue to pay someone for 12 weeks (and waste the training costs) on them if they're going to bail if the medical doesn't work out.

...But it also doesn't make sense for them to close down AMS (which pumps out LTs in 6 weeks) and send them to OTS which does the same thing in twice the time, and cost.

At least AFRC has it figured out: send pilot selects to Brooks and get them cleared, then swear them in and get them orders for OTS and later UPT.

Broke mine in '94 and sent them to opposite ends of the country to ensure they'd never meet up again, so far Uncle Sam hasn't asked for them back but of course there have been a couple of O S---'s where I thought he was gonna come a knockin'

yeah the breaking of the wings was a big deal down at XL. Forget where the tradition comes from though.

Anyways it’s funny how things work it self out, I'm getting furloughed in Jan and I’ve been pretty down lately.
Congrats... it is funny! I am very jealous. I made the decision to try to get into the airforce long before I was furloughed, but yes I was furloughed 2 weeks ago. My first interview is this week. Wish me luck. I Want it so bad!

Did you get picked up Paok? I don't know you personally, but I know you work for the same company that I do and I hate that you have to go through this. I hope you get picked up and wish you the best. Are any others that you know of going the military route?

Poak are you with OH?
I'm very excited but its going to be difficult financialy. (Not going to have the extra money to pay the student loans)
1. my wife has to leave her job and 2. I also 99.9% have been accepted for an ATC job at MIA (96K after 13-18 months) --- I'm going nuts.

Wow, that is a huge decision. But I think once you've made the choice to do this (at least in my case) nothing is going to change my mind. Again congrats. I am jealous. pm me
