Finally! The turbo-weenie certainly was a fantastic trainer, but they were getting pretty tired when I left VT-2 in 2003.

I like the orange and white. It screams NAVAL AVIATION TRAINER.

T-45 Goshawk only for the tailhook. The last turboprop trainer to CQ was the T-28 as I recall. T-6 is for primary flight training only. Tailhookers enter the jet realm.

It just looks extremely short and stubby to me. I went to VT-3 and flew the mighty T-34C.

It's bigger in every respect to the 34, at least from what I've seen of the T-6A.

Where is the "E" on the tail and CTW-5 on the ventral fin? Can the paint shop at Whiting do that stuff? Rumor on the street is Raytheon/Beechcraft will be chopping up the T-34Cs vice putting them up for sale. Something about litigation issues since they have been civilian maintained their whole life. Hope it's not true.

Actually the T28 was a 1425hp,as I recall, recip. VT2 and 3 flew the B and C model for acro, instruments, formation and night x-country. VT-5 was car qual with the C model and at one time even the helo pilots went to the boat on the 28. It was a sad day when we lost that perk, but budgets rule.

I've always thought the fuselage and wings look of different proportions, even in the USAF paint scheme. As for this paint scheme....blaaah. They just took the USAF paint scheme and changed the blue on the bottom to that orange. They should have used the T-34 paint scheme - or even one of the paint schemes that some of the F-14/F-18 squadrons had on their T-34's.
