A Look Back at the Vietnam War
This came across my desk and I thought that those of you who were there, and those of you who have always wondered what it was like, would appreciate this photo-journalism.

Wow! Great slide show, some amazing pictures. Vietnam vet or not, those pics will make you run a whole gamut of emotions. My dad and uncle were Vietnam vets and I've heard alot of their stories. As a current military member, I cannot help looking at those pictures through the prism of our current wars. I'm afraid we're repeating mistakes of the past, mistakes that we all swore wouldn't happen again. I'm thinking it's past time to figure out an exit strategy for Afghanistan and Iraq. Thanks for posting, JJ.

These photos are the essence of war and the brutality humans are capable of inflicting on each other at any time. If you did not live through those years it is hard to imagine the pressure that China and Russia were putting on the rest of the world. I firmly believe that governments are the most dangerous things on the face of the earth.
Communism failed and the former foes have embraced Capitalism. The real danger we have always faced is government attempts to control the individual. It exists in many forms, and it is always wrong and always dangerous.
"Only the dead have seen the end of war."
The outcome of war, in the long term, is almost never that which is originally desired by the participants. The sooner we quit listening to the call to kill each other for some imagined sleight, the better off we will all be in the end. The only thing worth fighting for is individual freedom to act as we choose. In other words, keep your hands off of me and I will do the same for you. We don't need to be herded or treated like property to be harvested.

If we are on the street and you try to take something from me that does not belong to you, I will likely kill you or or at least make it clear that is a possible outcome. It is really just that simple.
It all comes down to individual rights. Violate the individual and suffer the consequences. War is really the ultimate competition for the rights of individuals.
The Irans and North Koreas exist because people have allowed their rights to be taken by the state.
