AGR to ART

What in Christ's name are you talking about? I hope your point was as rhetorical as mine, otherwise you either have me confused in real life or felt alluded to. If the latter is the case feel free to PM me and we can settle whatever it is that's chappin ya about my point.

Here is something else to consider if the ART thing shows up in AETC. When would they consider the start of your duty day? When you show for your art job at 0800 or when you go to your brief at 1400? That would play a huge difference in if you make some extra money with TPs etc and maxiflex.

That's pretty simple, by CS regulation, your first eight hours of scheduled work based on the report time are your civil service day. 1400 brief, the next eight hours are civil service work. In my 18 years of doing ART, the civil service rules are the hardest part of bending them into a flight work environment.
Now you could have a scheduled day beginning at 0800, do 8 hours and triple-turn on an AFTP, I suppose. You'd have to play it right or use some leave, depending.
The C-5 was a supervisor's nightmare at audit time, I learned all the tricks and pitfalls.

Doesn't comp time figure in here somewhere?
I didn't think handling this situation was unit specific but maybe it is.
When our ARTs worked a 12 hour day, 8 was their normal work day and 4 was "saved" as comp time for use at a later time.
Work 4 x 10 hour days, Mon-Thur and take Friday off. I think there was some provision for taking the extra "saved" time as pay also.
It's been a while so I may not have all the details right.

Most units will not approve over time. Most only credit time. There is a 24 hour cap on accumulation. Comp time is a little harder to come by depending on the commander. Either way, working more hours for more years for less money. They wouldn't be doing it if it was good for your wallet.

IIRC, paid overtime is limited to payment at the GS-10, Step 10 rate, that is, you won't get paid more tha time and a half at GS-10, Step 10. NOT a good deal as a GS-13. Comp time shouldn't be an issue to earn, BUT there is a maximum comp time limit. Which is, he asks. You cannot earn more that your GS-13 pay plus the value of your comp time valued at GS-10, Step 10 pay. So multiply your comp hours by that rate, add it to your GS-13 pay and the total per pay period cannot exceed GS-15 pay. As a -14, Step 10, my max comp per pay period was about 8 hours.
That's somewhat old info, but at the rate if change in the government it should be OK. Now they have gotten rid of the Rumsfeld system. Thankfully, I missed pay banding.

Well I hate to agree with a nwa and f16 pilot, but I concede that this ****show is all stenner. Once he's gone in two months, career status for all my bros. He came to Vance and I skipped his brief, but sounds like he's already half-heartedly given up on the transition program himself.

I will say this about AFRC HQ: they love the ART program, as long as it doesn't apply to them. The building has some ARTs, loads of CS anda few senior officers retired from the CS doing their last years as a AD G.O.s.
