I drive by Tinker AFB often and look at the line of mostly bombers they have right next to I-40. There is a B-1 on the line which certainly has ramp presence.

Had one of those in front of the chow hall @ NAS Memphis. Appears that it's still there.

B47 visible from I-95 just outside of Savannah, GA. It's not a gate guard, but it's the only aircraft on site (I think).

Is it? I remember that now. I never made it to the museum.

Nothing on a stick at Miramar, but there is a small Marine museum along the north side of the base. A few cargo displays near the MCX...why not a gate guard?

Did you tour it?
Those aircraft are in pretty sad shape
Insie though they have a little test that will make you feel like you need to study the recce harder.
It is a display case with a bunch of unmarked little black models of mostly WWII aircraft and a blank piece of paper to write your answers on.
I'm obviously better at aircraft recce in the LATER years

Shaw AFB, in Sumter SC has RF-4, RF-101, RB-66, O-2, and an A-10 (with a green Iraqi star from a helo shootdown.) They are all just inside the front gate. There's also a viper more toward the center of the base.

My bad, they do have other aircraft. It's been about 12 years since I was there, so I'm claiming senility or they added them after my visit.

Yes, I've spent some time there (04-10). Love to see the airplanes but I always wondered why MCAS Miramar never had anything on a stick? Does anyone know if back in the Navy days that they had anything?
